13 Christmas Vacation Movie Soundtrack: Detailed List - Endante (2023)

13 Christmas Vacation Movie Soundtrack: Detailed List - Endante (1)

Christmas vacation is an excellent movie, and a lot of people remember the impact of watching it in real-time. There’s something about it that is not as discussed, though, the soundtracks. The soundtracks used in the movie are something that you would want to listen to generally since it radiates the spirit of Christmas. That is what this article is going to talk about.

Christmas Vacation Soundtrack is a topic that I wanted to talk about since it carries much more meaning to the movie overall. Also, the soundtracks are also just nice songs to listen to and could make someone’s day. If you are looking for the best Christmas songs, then you might want to read this list more since the movie has so much to offer. Keep on reading if you are interested.

1. Christmas Vacation by Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann

Christmas Vacation by Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann is about a family who is very excited about Christmas eve and doing everything they can to have fun, and many Christmas-related connotations are used in the song. Words like Santa Claus, deck the halls, light the lights, and toasty fire are referenced in the description.

It seems that the singer will be on a Christmas vacation and is looking forward to this event; we can tell that it is not Christmas yet (only Christmas eve) since the family is only making plans. This song carries the spirit of a Christmas vacation, something that is delightful and exciting.

2. That Spirit of Christmas by Mable John, Joel Webster, and Parnell Davison

That Spirit of Christmas by Mable John, Joel Webster, and Parnell Davison are about fostering the true spirit of Christmas, which is about passion and love; the singer exemplifies that this occasion is about giving more than anything else. There is a reference to Jesus and how it is that one time of the year where everyone is kind to each other.

This is slightly different from the tone addressed in Christmas vacation, it is not only about enjoyment, but rather it also focuses on what Christmas truly means (not just an off-season holiday that you get to enjoy). If you want a song that carries the characteristic of compassion, then you should listen to this one.

3. Mele Kalikimaka by R. Alex Anderson (as Alex Anderson)

Mele Kalikimaka by R. Alex Anderson it’s about a song about Christmas in Hawaii referencing “Mele Kalikimaka” as the singer’s way of saying happy Christmas in Hawaii; all of the points of view seem to be on this island as well. Palm trees are included throughout the song, so it further reinforces the idea that they are in Hawaii.

It’s a good change-up from the common setting of describing Christmas in the view of a United States citizen, and it is at least outside of the mainland us. This gives a new perspective on what Christmas is in a place outside of the regular setting and gives off the vibe that Christmas is just as good if not better in other countries.

4. Hey, Santa Claus by Harvey Fuqua

Hey, Santa Claus by Harvey Fuqua is so much different than the previous entries; it is about a mother longing for her baby to return on Christmas eve while asking Santa Claus if he could grant her wish. She talks about how she loves her baby so much and how she would not enjoy Christmas if the baby was not by her side.

Since Santa Claus is known to have magical properties, the singer is asking for another chance of meeting her baby again from this person, hopefully reuniting with someone special to her. That is all that is being asked in this song while repeatedly saying “hey Santa Claus” over and over again.

5. Here Comes Santa Claus by Gene Autry and Oakley Haldeman

Here Comes Santa Claus by Gene Autry and Oakley Haldeman primarily focuses on the presence of Santa Claus during Christmas; the singer is reminding the kids that Santa Claus is coming and they should celebrate for this special occasion. It is a merry song filled with laughter and joy for the upcoming season that is symbolized by Santa Claus.

The singer primarily described the calling of Santa Claus and how he has so many toys they gave to the children, but also it just gives the general sense of what Christmas is all about. It is also about the kid on how they are going to enjoy this season being the future adults of following Christmas seasons.

6. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Johnny Marks

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Johnny Marks is about a reindeer named Rudolph who has a funny-looking red nose; the song describes how this is such an uncommon color the most reindeers laugh at him and don’t let him on any games. He is discriminated against and humiliated until Santa Claus himself asks something of Rudolph.

Santa Claus wants to be escorted by Rudolf specifically, and all the other reindeers are fascinated by this; all of the reindeer are so proud of Santa Claus’s new unique company, they cheer as Rudolf flies into the sky to fulfill his new life objective.

The Star-Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key is not directly referencing Christmas but has been included in the Christmas vacation soundtrack; it is more about national pride and less on occasion. In the song, it is not directly described which flag the singer is talking about, but it is probably the American flag (due to the stars and stripes mentioned).

8. O Come, All Ye Faithful by Frederick Oakeley

O Come, All Ye Faithful by Frederick Oakeley is more about a religious song about Christmas; there are many references to angels and kings, which would constitute a religious background. The singer is constantly praising the coming of angels and welcoming them to a world full of Christmas spirit.

9. Deck the Halls by Thomas Oliphant

Deck the Halls by Thomas Oliphant is more about the hymn of the music rather than the song’s contextual meaning; in fact, if you will only read the lyrics, it basically doesn’t mean anything. Of course, there will be some form of a subject, but as a whole, the song doesn’t seem to have any meaningful message. The intonation and way the lyrics are imparted are more important than the words being discussed (most of the words in the lyrics are just mutters, the song is good, though).

10. We Wish You a Merry Christmas (uncredited)

We Wish You a Merry Christmas (uncredited) is probably the most sensational Christmas song out there, and it has been featured in Christmas vacation. Most people would have heard about this at least once in their life. It is mostly about wishing everyone a happy Christmas and giving love everywhere; the singers are filled with joy as they wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

11. Silent Night by Joseph Mohr

Silent Night by Joseph Mohr is probably the second most sensational song that is recognized worldwide; it has been featured in the Christmas vacation movie as it is so popular. It is another religious song, citing that the spirit of Christmas is the birth of Christ as stated in the holy bible.

12. Hallelujah Chorus by George Frideric Handel

Hallelujah Chorus by George Frideric Handel is pretty hard to describe; after all, most of the text is about saying the word “hallelujah” over and over again. It is also a heavily religious-based song l, describing the coming of the lord and shouting hallelujah at the site as a sign of reverence.

13. The 12 Days of Christmas (uncredited)

The 12 Days of Christmas (uncredited) it’s another very popular Christmas song that is recognized worldwide; it is noted for its continuous lyrics that add another item to be sung as the lyrics go on. It is about a girl receiving items from her lover, and after the 12 days of Christmas, the lover sends different things on different days. As the list goes on, each item has been included in the song appropriately.

Final thoughts

This list contains all the Christmas Vacation Soundtracks that you will need for a holiday; it is a nice throwback to the childhood movie that made us who we are today. These songs look at everything that is good and bad about Christmas; I think that this is an important stigma to consider within Christmas- based songs.

Of course, Christmas is generally great. However, it cannot be denied that there are many songs out there that tell the sad story of the supposed happy occasion. Bad things still happen to people even on such a happy occasion as Christmas; it’s not like the misery ends with this holiday, as expressed by some of the songs.

However, I believe that there are mostly good things that can come out of Christmas, and its true spirit will resonate with most people; in the end, Christmas is mostly great, but not all of it; thank you for reading.
